Video Games. Some people love them. Others, not so much. From the classic arcade games to the photo-realistic masterpieces, video games have been the highlight of the 20th century. From the casual gameplay, you can experience on your couch, to the competitive, stress-inducing nightmares, where you can throw your controller at the TV, many people have different experiences with video games.

Everyone has a specific genre that they prefer. Some people enjoy first-person shooters, survival horrors, or turn-based strategy. Others like games that include adventure or action.  Video games can be played in numerous ways. They can be played in virtual reality, on a television or even on a mobile device.

Trailers have accompanied video games over the past years, making players pumped up to buy that new game. Some trailers have earned enough respect that they can be gifted with all different types of awards. An example of this includes the game “Halo,” where the creators earned a lot of positive feedback from the trailer and achieved the eyes of the press.

Even in the 21st century, the success of video games has never been higher. This has caused some backlash lately, especially with lazy creators, in-game purchases, and hacking. A strong example of this includes the game creator, EA, tricking people into buying games that are littered with microtransactions or incomplete single player or multiplayer sections. But their games still provide the quality of excitement.

Online games have been praised for connecting other players across the world. People have the chance to meet others even if the person is living on the other side of the world. Online Multiplayer games give the feeling of friendship in their games and players appreciate it. The connection has allowed the fun to expand, new companies to start, and for new ideas to grow.

Video games have marked human history in a good way and have provided the sense of nostalgia to those who outgrew them. And although video games have started and ended relationships with players, caused “rage quit”, and have induced microtransactions, I and many other individuals still enjoy these games and will always keep on playing.
